Ashwin Set to Rejoin Indian Team in Rajkot Amid Family Emergency
Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is set to rejoin the Indian cricket team in Rajkot on day four of the ongoing third Test against England.
Ashwin had left Rajkot after day two due to a family medical emergency and missed the entire day three’s play. The decision to withdraw from the match was communicated on Friday night.
Ashwin, who claimed his 500th Test wicket on day two, is expected to be available for bowling in the remainder of the Test. The BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, confirmed Ashwin’s return, expressing gratitude for the understanding and support from the team, media, and fans during this challenging period.
The statement urged privacy for Ashwin and his family. At the end of day three, India extended their lead to 322, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 104 and Shubman Gill unbeaten on 65.
